After more than 90 nights sleeping on the Helix Midnight Luxe, I think it’s one of the best premium hybrid mattresses for side sleepers and combination sleepers who want pressure relief without losing support. For me, it delivered strong edge support, very good motion isolation for a hybrid, and a more temperature-neutral feel than many foam-heavy mattresses I’ve tried.

My Testing Notes
I slept on the Helix Midnight Luxe for 90+ nights in my own home, including with a partner. Over that time, I paid attention to:
- pressure relief at the shoulders and hips
- lower-back support
- motion transfer
- edge support
- temperature retention over a full night

What It’s Like to Sleep On
The Helix Midnight Luxe has a medium feel with a plush, cushioned surface and a more supportive underlying structure than a typical all-foam mattress. The first thing I noticed was the pillow top: it gives the bed that soft, “comfortable from night one” feel. Underneath that, the mattress still feels supportive and lifted rather than overly sinky.
For me, the biggest benefit was how well it balanced cushioning and support. My shoulders and hips felt more cradled than they did on firmer mattresses, but I still felt supported through my midsection instead of dipping too far.
Construction and Materials
According to Helix’s current product information, the Midnight Luxe is a premium hybrid model with a breathable TENCEL cover, a quilted pillow top, foam comfort layers, and zoned coils for support. Helix also offers an optional GlacioTex cooling cover upgrade. Current third-party reviews describe the mattress as roughly 13.5 inches tall, and some reviewers note that the newer version uses denser 4.0 PCF memory foam than prior versions.
What I actually noticed in use was the combination of a soft top layer with a firmer, more supportive core. The zoned support is especially noticeable if you’re sensitive to hip sink or want more support through the middle of the bed.
Pressure Relief and Support
This is where the mattress stood out most for me. I noticed less repositioning during the night, and my hips and shoulders felt more cushioned without the mattress feeling unstable. As someone who values pressure relief but still wants structure underneath, this was a strong balance.
I would describe it as especially well-suited to side sleepers and many back sleepers. People with lower-back sensitivity may also appreciate the more supportive feel through the center of the mattress, though comfort needs are personal and a mattress can’t treat medical conditions.
Cooling
I wouldn’t market this mattress as “cold,” but in my experience it slept more temperature-neutral than many foam-forward mattresses. I did not feel like it trapped much heat overnight, which I credit to the breathable cover and the airflow you typically get from a coil-based design. Motion Isolation
This was better than I expected for a hybrid. I share the bed, and partner movement was much less disruptive than on our previous mattress. It’s not the completely muted feel of dense all-foam, but for a mattress with coils, I think it performs very well.
Edge Support
Edge support has been consistently strong in my experience. I sit on the side of the bed regularly, and it feels stable rather than collapsing or pitching me outward. That matters more than people think, especially if you share a queen size or tend to use the full surface of the bed.
Downsides
No mattress is for everyone, and this one has a few tradeoffs:
- It’s expensive at full price.
- The plush top may not be firm enough for people who want a very flat, extra-firm surface.
- If you want that deep, slow-moving memory-foam “hug,” this is not really that kind of bed.
What I’d Pair With It

Bottom Line
After 90+ nights, I can say the Helix Midnight Luxe has been one of the most comfortable hybrid mattresses I’ve personally slept on. I’d recommend it most to side sleepers, couples, and anyone looking for a premium mattress that combines pressure relief with meaningful support.
